EXPECTATIONS FOR THE FUTURE
From Mary Lyn Miller

Everyone of us has been forever changed by the devastating events of September 11, and I’d like to offer my hope for the future.

  1. While we are inextricably and permanently transformed by this tragedy, every living organism is always in an ongoing process of evolvement.

It never stops, despite our resistance.  You and I have been altered by many events in our lives: marriages, deaths, births, graduations, moves, job changes and so forth.  While this is truly another benchmark, like all others, it has within it the seed of a New Beginning as well.

  1. In order to have a New Beginning, you must first experience an Ending.

There is genuine grief attached to that, and we are experiencing that right now.  What New Beginning could possibly rise out of the ashes of the World Trade Center?  It has already begun…National unity unlike anything we have experienced before…Blurring of political and socio-economic lines to come together in a common need to heal…Global Unity - coalitions of surprising partners banding together to oppose hatred and violence…This I believe is all good, and an astonishing feat at that.

Most of us really don’t understand the NATURE of any transition, personal or global, and since I work with this issue everyday, I am offering a FREE Tele-Class, “The 3 Phases of Transition,” Thursday, October 18 at 6:00PM PST, just to help you better comprehend what to expect from both yourself and the world, and to offer possible tools to ease us all through it.

  1. This may be a time to reassess your life and begin doing what’s really important to you.

It is clear all of us need a larger, more positive vision of what is possible in the future - and, ultimately, how to fulfill our true purpose.  Life Focusing is an excellent process for this kind of evaluation…Passion can no longer be a luxury, it is a necessity if we are to experience the lives we were meant to live.  Don’t waste another moment.

  1. Since our world has changed, you may want to review some different ways to work.

Join me for “Never Need a Full-Time Job Again,” Thursday, October 11, 7:00 - 9:30PM at South Bay Adult School to explore a variety of exciting and possible ways to re-invent yourself and your work in this new world.

My final thought is that no matter how fearful you are may feel, no matter how confusing the transition, THIS, TOO, WILL PASS.  Nothing is forever - everything in the universe constantly changes and always will.

May you spend some of your time enjoying it.
